Obituary For Margaret Marchan Gutierrez

Margaret Marchan Gutierrez, of Laredo, Texas, was called upon God to her eternal rest on February 9, 2018, at the age of 86. Margaret was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on April 27, 1931, and moved to Texas after marrying Raymundo Gutierrez. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary last year on December 8th. To loved ones, she was known as Margie, Mague, Mami, Fruit, and DoeDoe. Margaret liked to cook, clean, sew, read, work crossword puzzles, shop, and walk to downtown. She enjoyed all genres of music and loved to dance. She also loved to laugh and had a keen sense of humor that made everyone else laugh too. Margaret was a caring woman who enjoyed talking to everyone and was known to make conversation with strangers. As a Catholic, she attended church regularly until she could no longer attend, but continued praying and always carried a rosary in her purse. In addition to being a devoted wife, Margaret dedicated her entire life to raising, caring for, and guiding her children. Everything she did was for them, and she encouraged them to be the best they could be. She also took great pleasure in caring for her grandchildren and being the funny, loving grandma (DoeDoe) that they needed. Margaret is preceded in death by her mother Tomasia Chavarria, father James Marchan; step-father, Teofilo Gabriel; sister, Angeline Bailon; brothers, Albert Marchan, Edward Gabriel, Nelson Gabriel, and Clement Gabriel. Margaret is survived by her husband Raymundo Gutierrez; sons, Raymundo Gutierrez, Jr., David (Rosalba) Gutierrez; daughters, Marcia (Lance) Schuh, Angeline (Robert) Zamora; brother, Kenneth Gabriel; grandchildren, Yasmine Gutierrez, Erik and Bryan Gutierrez, Brandon and Sean Garcia, Mina and Damien Zamora; great-grandson, Michael Gutierrez; and many family members from Texas, Illinois, and Hawaii. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 18, 2018, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 19, 2018, from the funeral home to Holy Redeemer Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Cremation services will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or any Alzheimer's Association. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Laredo, TX 78040. Condolences can be expressed to the family online at www.nietofuneral.com.

Condolences

Thank you, Mrs. Gutierrez, for your loving patience, allowing us to hang out at your home after our bike rides to Bruni plaza... back and forth to your home where music and dancing continued on your upstairs wooden floors. I can hear you calling out Marcia's name (with a soft C). Rest in peace. To Mr. Gutierrez, Marcia, Angie, David, Mundo, I offer my deepest sympathy at this time. With much love, Cynthia Barreda

Reciban nuestras condolencias.
